We are delighted to shine the spotlight on Mrs. Pamela de Gala Nala, a distinguished alumna of the UP College of Pharmacy. Mrs. Nala, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 2003, went on to earn her Master’s degree in Hospital Pharmacy in 2013. Her remarkable contributions to the field of hospital pharmacy have earned her recognition as one of the most influential figures in the industry.

Currently serving as the Chief Pharmacist of the UP-PGH Department of Pharmacy, Mrs. Nala has spearheaded several groundbreaking initiatives that have revolutionized pharmaceutical services in healthcare institutions. One of her notable achievements includes pioneering the implementation of Modified Unit Dose Dispensing for three wards in the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) back in 2015. This innovative approach to medication dispensing has greatly enhanced patient safety and streamlined medication management processes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Nala assumed the role of Pharmacy Team Leader for the vaccination program at PGH. Her leadership and expertise were instrumental in ensuring the smooth administration of vaccines to healthcare workers, patients, and the public. Her dedication and tireless efforts in managing the pharmaceutical aspect of the vaccination program contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.

Moreover, Mrs. Nala’s impact extends beyond the confines of PGH. She played a vital role in enabling the establishment of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital Pharmacy in Pampanga, catering specifically to the healthcare needs of OFWs and their families. Additionally, she facilitated the opening of the Emergency Room (ER) Satellite Pharmacy at PGH, providing prompt access to essential medications for emergency cases.

Recognized as a leader in her field, Mrs. Nala serves as the Secretary of the Philippine Society of Hospital Pharmacists. In this role, she actively contributes to the advancement of the pharmacy profession, advocating for patient-centered care, and promoting excellence in pharmacy practice.
