Spotlight Hernandez

We are delighted to shine the spotlight on the exceptional accomplishments of Mr. Emmanuel H. Hernandez, more affectionately known as “Tito Manny,” who was honored with the prestigious and well-deserved 2023 UPCPAAI Lifetime Achievement Award. His remarkable contributions to the field of pharmacy and his unwavering dedication to improving healthcare have left an indelible mark on the profession.

A proud alumnus of the UP College of Pharmacy, BSIP Class 1968, Mr. Hernandez’ passion for patient-centered care led him to establish Botica San Jose, a pharmacy in California renowned for its innovative services and commitment to personalized healthcare. Through his pharmacy, Tito Manny has created a positive impact in the lives of countless patients, providing them with compassionate and quality care.

In addition to his successful pharmacy venture, Tito Manny has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of aspiring pharmacists. Recognizing the need for guidance and resources, he established the first Filipino pharmacist-centric Review for the US FPGEE and US NAPLEX. This invaluable initiative has empowered Filipino pharmacists and pharmacy interns, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their careers.

Tito Manny’s commitment to mentorship extends beyond his review programs. He has served as a mentor and preceptor to Filipino pharmacists and pharmacy interns in the United States, generously sharing his expertise and guiding them in their professional and personal journeys. His dedication to nurturing the next generation of pharmacists is a testament to his passion for fostering excellence in the field.

Over the past four decades, he has been a generous and gracious benefactor to the College, providing financial support for educational materials, scholarships, and the upgrading of facilities, particularly the Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory, which provides students and faculty members with a conducive teaching-learning environment.

Tito Manny’s lifelong commitment to advancing the pharmacy profession with a benevolent heart for the Filipino community and his alma mater, as well as his dedication as a mentor, are all accomplishments worth emulating and truly deserving of a lifetime achievement award, as these personify the university’s values of honor and excellence.

The seeds planted by this simple, humble man several decades ago have borne fruit and have forever changed hundreds (maybe thousands) of lives for the better. More lives will continue to be transformed as those he helped and inspire follow his request to pay it forward and make a difference.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Tito Manny and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors. Padayon!
